Research: Quick Reference serves as a foundational handbook to organize complex research processes such as these.  In efficiency and simplicity of complex ideas---it breaks new ground.  There are moments when a careful tending of the first beginning of the new, which is growing among the ruins of the old on a soil still badly cleared of its rubble, is more important---to see development as something self-forming, flowering in a many sided and a living way. This is such a period.

Here elimination of the old moribund occurs with simultaneous assertion of the new. The new is created, nurtured, conditioned and prepared by the old, originates in its bowels, its womb, its essence, emerges, and is birth by it. So death not only eliminates the old, bring it to its end, close its final chapter--- but it also asserts the new. The most adaptable of the old is never fully destroyed by the new.  

Criticism preserves the positive elements of the old, and the achievements of past developments are assimilated by the new.  The obsolete is jettisoned.  Critical analysis of the obsolete is a necessary positive extraction of the rational kernel of the old and to retain that which is healthy and progressive, and to create conditions for its further development.  The process of sublation, or extracting and selectively saving what is still valuable in formation is tedious. Sometimes, mistakes are made by the subject as it attempts to mirror the object---so all the positive elements of the old are not always preserved in the new, while, some of its negative vestiges can be transferred to the latter.  The task is to preserves the positive elements of the old, and the achievements of past development and assimilate as much as possible for the new. 

Retention of progressive elements, which emerged at earlier stages of development, amounts to continuity, to a connection between the new and the old. Progressive development is impossible without continuity, just as without elimination of the obsolete. Preserve, accumulate, take best, and get rid of worst.  Anything new sooner or later grows old and as everything old, this eventually gives way to something new again.  The wealth of the past is retained; that which is obsolete is eliminated; the useful element is retained.  Research: Quick Reference is a reflection of the best of this ancient African Kmt research process.
